The essays here are made the way my book was made. The ideas, experience, drafts, voice, judgments, and final decisions are mine. The editing is agentic: an AI editor, built up through instruction and repeated correction, attacks the reasoning, tests claims, checks sources, improves the language, and objects when confidence outruns evidence. It supplies neither purpose nor responsibility. Its job is to make the first answer, including my own, harder to accept. My writing has always grown out of exchanging ideas and opinions with people, and it still does; the machine has simply joined the circle. Hard to admit: in conversation, it is now at least the equal of any peer I know. That is my philosophy on AI in writing: the human owns the taste and the judgment, the machine sharpens both.
